A rare & important Edo period carved polychrome sculpture of a Rakan, assembled with wood block construction, gesso, pigment and gold foil. The characteristics of this piece point to the Rakan Vajraputra, as represented in the paintings from the C.C. Carter collection, as published by the Brooklyn Museum.
