From the time her children were small, Edna took lessons in painting with various instructors starting with Art Landy, who had worked for Walter Lanz Studios. Milford Zornes is also included in her list of instructors. Edna became interested in resin work and took lessons from nationally known resin artist DeWayne Valentine of Venice, California. Her work gained her recognition as the artist who took resin art to a new level. When her girls were out on their own, Edna began taking art classes at Saddleback College. She transferred to Cal State University, Long Beach, and at age 65 she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in painting and drawing.
