Edna Hibel was an American painter who grew up in the Boston area and was best known for her impressionistic landscapes and Mother and Child series. She studied painting at the Boston Museum School of Fine Art and was influenced by the work of Mary Cassatt and Renoir. She was the second woman and second American to receive the Leonardo Da Vinci World Award of Arts, which she received in Holland in 2001. The award is given only every three years. Her married name was Edna Hibel Plotkin and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida was her home for 45 years; she died there in 2014.
