Ecuadorian Virgen del Apocalipsis Carved Wood and Enameled Statue - AS IS. Known as the Virgin of the Apocalypse, this iconography is often associated with the School of Quito artistic traditions.

Condition: Sculpture is missing a hand. 

Size: 6 x 3 x 13 in. 

The Virgin of the Apocalypse (also known as the Woman of the Apocalypse) is a major religious and artistic motif derived from Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation. It describes a celestial battle between good and evil, traditionally symbolized by a woman under threat from a multi-headed dragon. The imagery serves as a foundation for the Catholic doctrine of the Immaculate Conception and heavily inspired famous regional devotions like the ⁠Virgin of Guadalupe and the ⁠Virgin of Quito.
