Titled "Beach Scene with Little Girls". This delightful oil on masonite painting was purchased from a NYC collection. Donald Roy Purdy's career as an artist began in abstract painting and later moved into combining the abstract mode with representational subject matter. In the 1970s his palette was influenced by the Barbizon painters, but his technique combined the abstract with the tight Realist approach. What did remain constant throughout Purdy's career was his tendency to work in series. In the 1980s, Purdy's work evolved into an Impressionist style.
