Dominick Labino Glass Vase

The underside etched Labino, dated 2-1972. The asymmetrical cylindrical vessel with a multi-colored iridescent luster.

Artist Biography:
Dominick Labino (1910–1987) was an American glass artist, ceramicist, and scientist known for his pioneering contributions to the studio glass movement. Originally trained as a ceramic engineer, Labino made significant innovations in glassmaking technology, developing heat-resistant glass fibers used in aerospace and other industries. In the 1960s, he shifted his focus to artistic glass, co-founding the American studio glass movement alongside Harvey Littleton. Labino's experimentation with glassblowing techniques, colors, and forms led to the creation of vibrant and intricate glass sculptures, which earned him widespread acclaim. His works are displayed in major museums, including the Corning Museum of Glass. Labino's technical expertise and artistic vision continue to influence glass and ceramic artists today.
