Dolbi-Cashier was founded in 1978 and was a trade/brand name of Gallery House Inc. in Chicago, Illinois. They were owned by Ed Shulman, who specialized in decorative accessories and created his own design ideas. He oversaw the Gallery House artists work of his creations for a range of high quality and often art-to-order pieces of stylish brass art sculptures and other home furnishings, which were then sold in a showroom inside Merchandise Mart Plaza in Chicago to various high-end department stores and interior designers. He sourced much of his goods from Italy, Germany, France, and other European countries, but also dealt in more modern works using Lucite and plastics that were made in the United States as well as abroad. Shulman sold the company to Chartwell Cos., which owned several different accessory firms, but due to a dip in the economy he bought back the company (along with the additional firms) from Chartwell in 1990. The company was closed in 1993 due to economic difficulties, but two years later the rights to the brand and designs were acquired by Bentley International, who created a new showroom in High Point, North Carolina and named Shulman president of the division. They continue to produce goods under the Dolbi-Cashier name, which they have sold through their Windsor Arts division since the mid 2000s.
