Deborah Stern was born in London, England in 1938. As a youth she was drawn to art, first exploring painting Haas-Heye, and in the post-war era achieved great success throughout the United Kingdom and then Europe for her innovative abstract sculptures in stone, bronze, wood, and more. She joined the Royal Society of Sculptors in 1993, and studied with Adrian Heath at Camden Arts Centre. After becoming interested in the American postmodernist movement in the 1970s she traveled to the United States, exhibiting in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and finally setting up a home studio in Palm Beach, Florida. Today she continues to produce large scale paintings, sculptures, and installations, dividing her year between Britain and the United States.
