Dawn Marie was born in Berne, Indiana in 1956. Her earliest dream was to be a ballerina or princess, and these images have filled her artwork all her life. Early on she suffered an accident that permanently damaged her right art, and she spent many years teaching herself to paint with her left hand instead. Her determination became an integral part of her artistic vision as well. She received her formal training in printmaking at Indiana University, graduating in 1978. She spent nearly a decade perfecting her printmaking technique, and her work has gained both critical acclaim and immense popularity with collectors throughout the United States. She has had exhibits at the Fort Wayne, Indiana Museum, the annual Artlink National Print Competition, the Tenth Annual Festival of Religious Arts, and numerous galleries in the Midwest. Her work is in the permanent collection of Marion College, Indiana, and the Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
