David Unger (B. 1941) American, textured abstract bronze tabletop sculpture, signed beneath, is titled "Tender Moment." Numbered 5/7. Depicts two human figures, an adult kneeling and comforting a child on their lap.

Born in 1941 in Poughkeepsie, NY, Unger studied sculpture at Horace Mann School, under Chaim Gross. His rabbi father encouraged his passion and sent him to Adelphi University, where he worked under Peter Lipman-Wulf. After receiving his Masters from Boston University, he went to work for Martin Wheel Company, owned by his father-in-law. On a trip with his wife Kathryn to Tucson, AZ in the 1990s, his artistic passion was reignited by the stark landscapes, and he retired there to open a studio and resume sculping. His work has been compared to that of the English modernist Henry Moore, with angular planes and rounded interconnected shapes. Each piece is first shaped in clay before being cast in bronze, then given a verdi patina, and are always part of a limited set never numbering more than twelve.
