Here is what the artist says about this piece he made. "Within my designing mind there are two factions, one wants to create complex, constantly changing motion and one wants to create mechanisms that are as simple as possible. In the creation of Frolic these factions worked together and the result is a sculpture with a constantly changing series of floating patterns that is controlled by the least complex mechanism I have designed." David designs and builds kinetic sculptures because he enjoys the act of creation. Mechanics and motion have always fascinated him. During college David studied physics, engineering and chemistry to further his understanding of how things worked. Since graduating, he has designed and handcrafter over 150 different limited edition and one-of-a-kind kinetic sculptures. Common elements in David's work include motion and wood.
