David L. Millard (1915-2002) American, Oil on Canvas. Three patrons stand on the covered porch chatting amongst themselves. The tall white belltower of the town church stands in the distance along with several vibrantly colored trees. David Millard’s career spanned over six decades where he exhibited in over 30 one-man shows in both museums and galleries from the National Academy of Design as well as received gold medals from the American Watercolor Society, the New England Watercolor Society and the Rockport Art Association. He kept a home studio in Needham, Massachusetts where he lived during the warmer months and a winter studio in St Thomas on Caret Bay. Prior to his passing in 2002, Millard wrote and published three books: “The Joy of Watercolor”, “More Joy of Watercolor” and “Impasto” His paintings have been highly collected and his works appear in various corporate and museum collections.
