David Hayes (1931-2013) American, Abstract Steel Sculpture. Painted steel. Signed and dated 2005 on the base. #11 of Totem Series.  Some weathering and pitting on the base, and a few pits on the sculpture typical for a 20 year old outdoor sculpture.

Artist Biography: David Hayes (1931–2013) was a prominent American sculptor known for his abstract geometric works that melded industrial materials with organic forms. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Hayes initially pursued engineering before finding his true passion in sculpture during his time at Indiana University and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His sculptures, often composed of welded steel or bronze, reflected a fascination with the interplay of shapes and space, drawing inspiration from natural elements such as leaves, branches, and geological formations. Hayes gained widespread acclaim for his large-scale outdoor sculptures, which can be found in public spaces, museums, and private collections around the world, leaving a lasting legacy in the realm of contemporary American art.

Condition

Some weathering and pitting on the base, and a few pits on the sculpture typical for a 20 year old outdoor sculpture.
