Clinton Deckert is an award-winning American contemporary painter known for combining surreal imagery with abstract, dreamlike compositions inspired by nature, memory, and the subconscious. Born in Massachusetts and raised in Southington, Connecticut, where he continues to maintain a home studio, Deckert developed a distinctive visual style influenced by Surrealism, Dada, and artists such as Salvador Dalí and Max Ernst. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris through the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts, and has appeared in museums and galleries throughout the northeastern United States, including the New Britain Museum of American Art, where his work is part of the permanent collection. A former president of Hartford’s Artworks Gallery cooperative, Deckert has also served as a curator, lecturer, and juror for regional arts organizations. Critics have praised his richly layered paintings for their imaginative symbolism, organic forms, and balance of humor and mystery. (clintondeckert.com)
