Cigar Silk Ribbon Pillow Sham Quilt
Cigar silk ribbons sewed together in a square in the middle. Also sewed in diagonals in each corner. Different shades of yellow in color.
Made in the Nineteenth Century with 100% hand stitching. The Cigar bands were identifying a local maker as at the time only 5Cent Cigar were mass produced. The high quality cigars were banded together usually in pairs with silk bands to sell in smaller quantites than by box. The ribbons became prized collectibles which were made into pillow sham quilts.
