Size: 13 1/2 x 11 x 21 in.
Christopher Heede was born in 1960 in Fort Collins, Colorado to artistic parents who moved the family to Greece for a time when he was eight, exposing him to architectural ruins and art museums that heavily influenced his interest in pursuing art as well. He studied clay sculpting at Arizona State University, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics. Building his own studio called Christoph Ceramics in the Sonoran Desert near Scottsdale, Arizona, Heede drew creative inspiration from his natural surroundings, incorporating desert light and organic forms into his work. He is best known for his contemporary wheel-thrown vessels, hand-built wall sculptures, and Raku-fired ceramics, often fusing molten glass over glazed clay to produce vibrant, textured surfaces. A longtime member of the Sonoran Arts League and frequent participant in regional studio tours, Heede continues to craft distinctive architectural installations, fountain sculptures, and studio art pottery to this day.
