Christine Amarger's art is exemplified by whimsical dialogue. Figures, pastimes, vocations and avocations, as well as world surroundings are represented with charm. While expressing a delightful view of life, each image makes serious comment as it reflects on leisure, relationships, and the individuals portrayed. The art exhibited below is from a suite of etchings in which Amarger portrays World Famous Newspapers. The images are whimsical and serious in their display of the essence of world news and the culture of the countries represented. The suite images are: El Paris (France), Jerusalem Post (Israel), Los Angeles Times (USA) , New York Post, (USA) and Yomiuri Shimburn (Japan). Throughout her career she has avolved a highly personalised style reflecting her interest in children and contrasting this with elements of contemporary life. She has worked on a series of etchings choosing from them differing themes of newspapers umbrellas musical instruments bird cages all seen in relation to children and depicted in a humorous slightly satirical way. Amarger has held many exhibitions both on the Continent and in America. Her work has been chosen for major international art fairs notably in Basel Dusseldorf and Washington DC. Her most recent exhibition was during the Spring of 1982 in Sydney Australia where her work was shown with two other French artists.
