Chinese Wucai Rouleau Vase with Dragon Boat Festival Scene. Stunning painted scene all around the main body of the tall porcelain vase. Blue and white double circle mark on underside translates to "Made during the Kangxi Period of the Qing Dynasty." 

Size: 7 1/4 x 7 1/4 x 18 1/4 in. 

Wucai (“Five colors”) is a style of decorating white Chinese porcelain in a limited range of colors. It normally uses underglaze cobalt blue for the design outline and some parts of the images, and overglaze enamels in red, green, and yellow for the rest of the designs. Parts of the design, and some outlines of the rest, are painted in underglaze blue, and the piece is then glazed and fired. The rest of the design is then added in the overglaze enamels of different colors and the piece fired again at a lower temperature of about 850 to 900 degrees Celsius. It originated in the doucai techniques of the Ming Dynasty during the 15th Century.
