Chinese Qing Dynasty Wood Baby Stroller. Chinese wooden baby stroller with carved wood accents, foliage medallions, and two foo dogs on front edge, on four wooden wheels.

Traditional Chinese wooden baby strollers, often referred to as baby carts or pushcarts, were utilitarian yet often charmingly crafted objects used to transport infants and toddlers in both rural and urban settings. Typically made from sturdy local woods such as elm or pine, these strollers featured a simple wheeled base with a small, enclosed seat or cradle, sometimes adorned with carved decorations, painted motifs, or protective symbols to ward off evil spirits. In addition to their practical function, they reflected the ingenuity of vernacular craftsmanship and the importance of child-rearing within the family structure. These strollers, now often seen in antique collections or folk museums, offer a glimpse into traditional childcare practices and the intersection of daily life and artisan culture in historical China.
