Chinese Hand Painted Porcelain Fish Bowl. Chinese hand-painted porcelain fish bowl with peacock and flower design on exterior, interior with goldfish and seaweed.

Chinese fish bowls are large, often rounded vessels traditionally made from porcelain or ceramic, designed for keeping ornamental fish while also serving as decorative objects. Emerging prominently during the Ming and Qing dynasties, they frequently feature painted motifs such as carp, lotus flowers, waves, and dragons, symbolizing prosperity, harmony, and good fortune. These bowls combine functional design with elaborate artistic detail, showcasing the skill of Chinese artisans in underglaze and overglaze painting, and were prized both for their aesthetic beauty and their auspicious symbolism in homes and temples.
