**Guanyin** (also spelled **Quanyin** or **Kuan Yin**) is a revered figure in East Asian Buddhism, known as the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Often depicted as a serene and benevolent figure, Guanyin embodies the qualities of mercy, compassion, and kindness, and is believed to hear the cries of all beings in suffering. She is sometimes portrayed with a thousand arms, each holding a tool to help those in need, symbolizing her ability to assist countless beings simultaneously. Guanyin is also associated with the lotus flower, which represents purity and enlightenment. In Chinese culture, she is venerated not only as a protector of women and children but also as a guardian who provides comfort and relief from life's hardships.
