Chuck Boux was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1947. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from the Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida, in 1970, and served in the U.S. Army before working in electrical construction up until 1990. After a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art prompted an interest in art glass, he took glass blowing classes at the Experimental Glass Workshop in New York City in 1989, and in 1991 he founded the Sigma Glass Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida for the purpose of pursuing advanced glass layover techniques, turning hot glass bubbles inside out in remarkable shapes. He and his sons continue to produce new works there, with pieces in public, private, and corporate collections around the world, including works for the New York Yankees, Time Warner Communications, The Smithsonian Institution, and the Office of Protocol at the U.S. State Department.
