Cathi Whiting was born in Sussex, England in 1957. She obtained an honors degree at Winchester School of Art, concentrating on illustrative printmaking and primarily serigraphy and lithography, along with etching and relief printing. In 1981 she went to work with the Peter Morson Studio, but in 1983 she moved to Rosenstiels of Chelsea where she started to produce her own prints. After finding representation through Park West Gallery her work was soon discovered and taken up by other galleries all over the United States, as well as in Spain, France, England, and Japan. Whiting routinely spends summers in Cote d’Azur, taking in the light of the Mediterranean that are her primary subjects and inspirations in her paintings. Working mainly with acrylics, oils, and pastels on paper and canvas, she often oversees printing of her pieces directly, using an average of thirty-five screens to achieve as much richness of color as possible. Today her work can be seen in permanent exhibitions in London, Paris, New York, and Tokyo, as well as in countless public and private collections across the globe.
