Artist Biography:
Carl Pfeufer (1910–1980) was an American artist known for his contributions to illustration, comic strips, and sculpture. He was born in New York and studied at Cooper Union, where he honed his skills in freehand drawing. After graduation, Pfeufer worked as a staff artist for newspapers and gained recognition through his comic work on titles like *Don Dixon and the Hidden Empire*, *Tad of the Tambark*, and *Gordon, Soldier of Fortune*. During the 1940s, he contributed to the comic book industry with Marvel and Fawcett, working on characters such as *Ibis the Invincible*, *Submariner*, *Commando Yank*, and *The Chisholm Kid*. His legacy includes shaping the early comic book industry through both his art and storytelling.
