Carl William Peters (1897–1980) was an American painter renowned for his landscapes and marine scenes. Born in Rochester, New York, he spent his youth on a farm in Fairport, where he was influenced by various artistic movements, including the Hudson River School and American Impressionism. Peters honed his skills at the Art Students League in New York City and furthered his studies in Woodstock under mentors like Charles Rosen and John F. Carlson. He gained acclaim for his winter landscapes in the Genesee Valley and summer port scenes in Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Beyond painting, Peters contributed murals during the WPA era and was an active member of the Genesee Group, an association of Rochester artists.
