Black, Starr & Frost was founded in 1810 and had a reputation for designing and creating high-quality silverware and jewelry. The Gorham Manufacturing Company was founded in 1831 and was known for its silverware, while the Alvin Manufacturing Company was known for its silver flatware and giftware. In 1940, the three companies merged to form Black, Starr & Gorham, which continues to create high-end jewelry and silverware today.
