Benjamin Franklin was an American statesman, inventor, scientist, writer, printer, and one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. Born on January 17, 1706, in Boston, he became known for his curiosity, intelligence, and many contributions to society. Franklin conducted famous experiments with electricity, invented practical devices such as the lightning rod and bifocal glasses, and helped establish important civic institutions, including libraries and fire departments. He also played a key role in drafting the Declaration of Independence and negotiating the Treaty of Paris, which ended the American Revolutionary War. Franklin died on April 17, 1790, in Philadelphia and is remembered as one of the most influential figures in American history.
