Barry Entner was born on November 1st, 1959, in Brookline, Massachusetts, and was first interested in pursuing a sports career before discovering painting and sculpture in high school. He studied the works of Bosch, Bruegel, Picasso, and Gauguin before finding his calling in glass sculpture in his senior year at Tulane University, studying under Gene Koss. After graduating he apprenticed with David Goldhagen and studied glass art at Penland School of Crafts under Stephen Dee Edwards, as well as metal sculpture at Massachusetts College of Art. In 1985 he opened Brimstone Glassworks with glass sculptor Caleb Nichols, and in 1997 he opened his own design studio in Rhinebeck, New York where he continues to work. His innovative kinetic pieces have been chosen for many public and private collections and have frequently been sold to raise funds for charitable causes, with regular exhibitions in Germany, Japan, and Switzerland since the 2000s.
