Autographed 1951 Detroit Tigers Baseball signed by Hall of Fame 3rd Baseman George Kell and Hall of Fame pitching ace Hal Newhouser. Prince Hal rounded out the noted pitching trio (TNT) that included Virgil Trucks and Dizzy Trout. Other prized players who signed the ball include Hoot Evers, Vic Wertz, Pat Mullin, Don Kolloway, Johnny Groth. Eddie Lake. Bob Swift, Johnny Lipon and Jerry Priddy. While the team finished with a unimpressive 73-81 record, managed by Red Rolfe- this collectable is must for all Detroit Tigers baseball fans who fondly remember them from when they played at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull on their field of dreams at Briggs Stadium and later Tiger Stadium.
The 1951 team is largely remembered for having George Kell and Vic Wertz anchoring the offense, with the team finishing in 5th place in the American League, as shown in the 1951 Detroit Tigers statistics on Baseball-Reference.
Although labeled as a "1937 Detroit Tigers Baseball," the specific players you listed—Johnny Groth, Eddie Lake, and Bob Swift—did not play for the Tigers in 1937. These players were Detroit Tigers teammates primarily in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Therefore, the baseball is highly likely a team-signed ball from a later era, such as 1947–1950, misidentified with the earlier date.

The Detroit Tigers are a Major League Baseball team based in Detroit, Michigan, and one of the American League’s eight charter franchises, established in 1901. Competing in the American League Central Division, the Tigers have won multiple World Series championships and are known for legendary players such as Ty Cobb, Al Kaline, and Miguel Cabrera. The team plays its home games at Comerica Park, and its navy, orange, and Old English “D” logo have become enduring symbols of Detroit’s sports heritage.
