TED WILLIAMS AUTOGRAPH
Theodore Samuel Williams (August 30, 1918 – July 5, 2002) MLB BASEBALL PLAYER AND LEGEND
Authentic Ted Williams autograph personalized (To Robert) from opening and dedication of his Hitter's Museum located in Florida on February 9, 1994. Autograph pack includes two photographs
of "Splendid Splinter, " a photo of fellow Hall of Famer, Brooks Robinson in attendance, as well as two commemorative tickets from the event as well as VIP Parking pass. EXCELLENT PROVENANCE. Robert, the man who Mr. William's signature was made out to was in attendance at the opening event and got the autograph from Ted himself on this memorable night . Williams, considered by many to be the greatest hitter of all time, the famed Number 9, played his entire career with the Boston Red Sox and amongst his many legendary feats, was the last Major League Ballplayer to hit over 400, in 1941, when "The Kid. '' as he was nicknamed by some hit for a .406 batting average. Even though his career was cut short by five years and two tours of duty in the military, first in World War II and The Korean War, he managed to hit 521 Home Runs while finishing with a .344 lifetime batting average. Williams was a six time batting champion and 19 times elected as an all star. Still, mere numbers did not capture the mystique of the man - who homered in his last at bat ever in the big leagues. An American War hero - who in many ways was more John Wayne -than John Wayne, WIlliams a two time Triple Crown Winner and MVP carved his legend in the history books suited for a Hollywood script, playing on the last day of the season, going 6 for 8, in a doubleheader even though he technically was already hitting 400 going into the twin bill, and by playing he risked falling short of 400 if he ran into a hot pitcher or two. There was no decision for "Teddy Ballgame." He had to play - and he had to hit, and hit HE did!. Few have done it better with his keen batting eye and signature swing - he is a ballplayer whose very mention conjures images and memories of the best to ever play the game of baseball and whose signature is a must for any serious baseball fan and sports collector's collection.
