Titled "Fotografo II", Modernist painted bronze and steel sculpture of a nude male figure in a photographer's stance. Signed, numbered & dated: A. Canero, 3/6, 2008. Provenance: purchased by a Sarasota collector from the Nicholas Metivier Gallery, Toronto, Canada in 2010. A Spanish born artist, Aurora Canero Lopez continues designing her compelling modern abstract, figural, mixed-metal sculptures and is collected worldwide. Cañero's pieces define a small world in which things that are on the edge of the fantastic, or at least the unusual, happen. Dreaming and curiosity are subjective states that define position in her sculptures. The use of pedestals as part of the work is particularly significant in Aurora Cañero's aesthetic system: ladder, hoops, diving boards, boats resting on their oars, rectangular shapes on which the figures stand.
