Wolf Kahn (October 4, 1927 – March 15, 2020) was a German-born American painter celebrated for his distinctive fusion of Abstract Expressionism and representational landscape painting. Born in Stuttgart, Kahn fled Nazi Germany as a child and later settled in the United States, where he studied under influential artists including Hans Hofmann. His work is known for its vibrant, luminous colors and simplified forms, often depicting pastoral scenes, barns, and trees with a dreamlike intensity. Over a long career, Kahn became a prominent figure in American art, blending modernist abstraction with traditional landscape elements in a way that was both innovative and deeply personal.
