Antonie "Anton" Smeerdijk (1885–1965) was a Dutch painter renowned for his floral compositions, village scenes, figure studies, still lifes, and landscapes. Born on March 3, 1885, in 's-Graveland, Netherlands, he displayed artistic talent early on, sketching church interiors during services. Smeerdijk studied under Herbert van de Poll and later at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam from 1901 to 1904, where he was mentored by August Allebé. His contemporaries included Jan Sluijters and Leo Gestel. Initially, Smeerdijk's palette was dark, but after travels to France and Italy, his work adopted lighter tones. He passed away on June 7, 1965, in Roermond, Netherlands.
