Rush light holders were both functional and decorative, sometimes featuring adjustable arms, drip pans, or ornate finials, reflecting local craftsmanship and style. Though the lights themselves were inexpensive and utilitarian, the holders could range from modest and practical to finely wrought, providing insight into domestic life and lighting practices in centuries past.
