Anthony was born July 27, 1941, in Naples. He was the son and three others siblings of Rev. John Claude and Mary Lou Coalson Martin of Annona. Anthony had a God given talent for the arts, never went to school to learn how to paint and draw. It is told when he was very young, he used Hymn Books while church service was going on to draw while his dad was preaching. He was born with this talent, and couldn’t help it. He was the art teacher of young children at the YWCA of Paris for 7 years, and preacher for 8 years at Garrett’s Bluff Church. He attended the Ft. Worth Baptist Seminary for 6 years. His talent was also known, and very widespread in Houston, Dallas, California and New York. The Dubose Gallery in Houston was the main gallery where his work was displayed more often, and he became very famous. During his older years, he slowed down some on his work, but sold a painting once in a while, only did paintings for friends and family. Anthony attended Sunday church services while living in Paris, faithfully every week, and rarely missed a service even when he became very ill. He would make himself attend regardless, his favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23.
