Anson Kent Cross (1862–1944) was an American landscape painter, educator, and author based in Massachusetts. He studied at the Massachusetts Normal Art School and was active in the Boston art scene, exhibiting at institutions like the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Copley Society, and the St. Botolph Club. Cross received recognition for his work, earning a Bronze Medal from the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics Association in 1887 and another at the Paris Exposition in 1900. In addition to his artistic endeavors, he was a faculty member at the Massachusetts Normal Art School and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he taught drawing and painting. Cross authored several books aimed at art students and teachers, including Drawing and Painting Self-Taught (1922), reflecting his commitment to art education. His landscape paintings, often depicting scenes from Massachusetts and coastal New England, are characterized by their Impressionist style
