From the Park West Gallery website: It’s the brightly colored, unique and figurative style from the artist Anne Aderman that initially draws her collectors to her art. It is the stories created within these pieces and her ability to incorporate her audience into each painting that keeps them clamoring for more. Anne was born an artist. From the time she was a small child, she drew pencil portraits. Acrylics and watercolors were her media of choice in high school, but her unique style began to flourish at the Rochester Institute of Technology from which she graduated with a fine arts degree. Anne entered the world of finance, in part to help support her art, but more importantly, Anne recognized that, “a successful artist needs to understand business.” This was the perfect way for her to do it. With the support of her husband, Bill, Anne retired from banking in the early 1990s to focus full-time on her art. She opened Gallery Imprevu in Pittsford, New York, and has been creating there ever since. Her painting studio occupies the 2nd floor of her 2-story gallery, with the 1st floor featuring her oils, watercolors, acrylics, and even a painted horse or two. Whether Anne is working on paper, canvas, fiberglass or aluminum, her art is expressionistic with a slightly abstract twist. The observer is drawn into her paintings as they offer a different perspective into the artist’s point of view. In her painting, “Jazz Night,” your mind conjures up the sound of the saxophone, the voice of the singer, and the smoky atmosphere. It’s as if you’ve become part of the painting. This is the essence of Anne’s art. You are part of Anne’s world and her art becomes a part of yours. Anne’s originals and limited edition graphics are shown in galleries on both sides of the Atlantic. She is an annual participant in the International New York Art expo held in New York City, and is a member of the Rochester Arts Council. Anne also contributes her time and energy to a number of local and national charities.
