Andrew Kent (born circa 1950) is an acclaimed American music photographer best known for his iconic images of rock stars and cultural icons from the 1970s and beyond. With deep access to backstage life and live performances, Kent captured candid and striking portraits of legends such as David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop, Frank Zappa, and KISS, with some of his shots gracing magazine covers and album art. His collaboration with David Bowie from 1975 to 1978 remains especially celebrated for its intimate documentation of the artist during a pivotal creative era. Kent’s work appeared in major publications including Rolling Stone, Time, Vanity Fair, and Playboy, and today he lives in Sun Valley, Idaho, where he pursues personal interests while his classic rock photography continues to be exhibited and appreciated.
