Amos Amit (Born 1945) Israeli, Framed Floral Batik. Traditional batik with irises. Framed.
Batik is a traditional textile art that uses a wax-resist dyeing technique to create intricate, layered designs on fabric. Originating from Indonesia, the process involves applying hot wax to areas of the cloth to prevent them from absorbing dye, then repeating the waxing and dyeing steps with different colors to build complex patterns. Once complete, the wax is removed to reveal the final design. Batik is used for both functional textiles and fine art, with artists like Amos Amit employing the method to produce richly colored, detailed works.
