Urban cityscape abstract, signed and dated. Alfredo Santos created several murals while incarcerated at San Quentin Prison as a young man. He later worked as a caricaturist at Disneyland, also maintaining a studio and gallery in his hometown of San Diego. Because of marijuana possession, he later fled to Mexico and ran a succession of galleries in Guadalajara, Mexico City and Acapulco. In 1967, Santos returned to the U.S. and had a gallery in the Catskill village of Fleischmanns, New York. There he also made sculptures of carved wood and found objects.
