Alexander Nepote is known for Modernist landscape, non objective painting, collage. He began as a realistic painter in the early 1930s and developed over his career into one who today celebrates the forces of nature in a non-objective style without portraying specific forms or locations… Surprisingly, despite his relative ubiquity on the Bay Area scene, Nepote has not yet been given a retrospective… in his own backyard. … ‘I’ve had an interesting life,’ Nepote said… ‘Essentially, I’ve been a teacher, and I’ve loved that. But I’ve painted a lot, too. … Nepote is a second-generation American, born in Valley Home. He had his first brush with art, evidently, when his Italian-born father took the family back to the homeland on a trip to settle some family business… ‘I was going to high school in Santa Rosa at the time and thinking about going into electrical engineering.
