Sight Size: 12 x 15 in.

Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a pioneering Russian painter and art theorist widely credited as one of the principal founders of modern abstract art. Abandoning a promising career in law, he moved to Munich in 1896 to study art and later co-founded the influential avant-garde group Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider). Deeply fascinated by the connection between music and visual expression, he developed a radical style using vibrant colors, geometric forms, and dynamic lines to evoke spiritual resonance rather than representational reality. A key faculty member at the Bauhaus school in Germany before relocating to France after the rise of the Nazis, Kandinsky left a profound legacy through both his seminal theoretical writings and his transformative abstract masterworks.
