After Frederic Remington (1861-1909) American, Bronze Statue. Exquisite reproduction on a marble base with a plaque on the front giving the title and attribution. Titled "Trooper of the Plains"

Born in 1861, Frederic Remington abandoned a brief, failed venture in the West following the death of his father to pursue his love of art, and by 1886, sales of his illustrations, particularly for Harper's Weekly, allowed him to move to New York City. A friendship with Theodore Roosevelt cemented his focus on the American West, where his prolific illustrations and stories romanticized the "wild frontier" and shaped the nation's view of life beyond the Mississippi. By the end of his short life in 1909, Remington had become famous for his detailed bronzes and paintings, leaving behind a legacy of over 5,000 works that continue to define the Western American art genre.
