After Demetre Chiparus (1886-1947) Romania, Bronze Dancer . Art Deco bronze exotic dancer in pointe shoes with marble base, signed D.H. Chiparus. He captures her in a long-sleeved, hooded, textured one-piece unitard.
This base includes a bronze wave-patterned band that connects the two levels of black marble with a subtle white veining.
Size: 4 3/4 x 19 1/4 in.
Demetre Chiparus (1886-1947) was Romanian by birth and began training as an artist in Italy and Paris. Chiparus' most notable subjects were beautiful characters from the early motion pictures, dancers, and stage actors in long, stylized silhouettes of the Art Deco period. He is known for fashioning exquisite marble bases for all of his creations.
