Traditional African figural art encompasses a wide range of sculptural traditions that reflect the spiritual, social, and cultural values of diverse African communities. Typically carved from wood, but also made from bronze, ivory, or terracotta, these figures often represent ancestors, deities, spirits, or symbolic archetypes tied to fertility, protection, or power.
