Anders Gustaf Schultz was born November 29th, 1859 in Falun, Sweden, and immigrated to the United States in 1881. By 1889 he had become a naturalized citizen, changing his name to Andrew, and was working as a silversmith in New Jersey. By 1898 he had relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, where he bought out a previous partner named Tschudy and established A. G. Schultz & Co., a silverware manufacturer with a new partner, Otto Rosenbauer. In 1905 businessman James McPhail became another partner, and they opened a sizable factory at 101 North Frederick Street, with four stories and over fifty workers. The company specialized in tableware and small figures, and when Schultz died his son continued to run the company until his death in 1950, whereupon the factory closed and the dyes were sold to various other companies.
