A.E. Crowell Miniature Redhead Drake. Wonderfully carved and painted miniature red head drake. Impressed rectangular stamp on the base, "Reddy" and Redhead Male written in pencil.
Anthony Elmer Crowell (1862-1951) is known for wood carvings-shore birds, and painting. Crowell began carving decoys around 1908 and by 1918 he was carving miniature song and shorebirds. His birds were known for his attention to detail in both the carving of bills and tails and the painting of feathers.
