(7) Chinese Porcelain Items and Box. Lot comprised of seven small painted porcelain items, predominantly animal figures, and box.

Small Chinese export porcelain animals, delicately molded and often whimsically posed, were crafted during the 18th and 19th centuries for eager Western markets fascinated by the exotic and the refined. These charming figures—ranging from lions and elephants to ducks, rabbits, and mythical creatures—were painted in soft famille rose or famille verte palettes, their details rendered with a careful blend of realism and stylization. Often used as decorative objects, desk ornaments, or part of elaborate table settings, they served as both status symbols and conversation pieces. More than curiosities, these animals reflect the cross-cultural exchange of taste, artistry, and imagination between Qing China and the Western world.
