(6) Diminutive Limoges Hand-Painted Porcelain Trinket or Pill Boxes. Lot comprised of six small hinged porcelain trinket or pill boxes by Limoges, France, delicately painted with various flower motifs on exterior and interior. Marked on base.

Limoges porcelain refers to the high-quality, white, hard-paste porcelain produced in and around the city of Limoges, France, beginning in the late 18th century. Renowned for its fine texture, translucency, and durability, Limoges porcelain became synonymous with elegance and craftsmanship, often adorned with hand-painted floral motifs, gilded accents, and intricate detailing. The discovery of kaolin near Limoges in the 1760s—an essential ingredient for true porcelain—spurred its development, leading to royal patronage and widespread acclaim. Over time, numerous factories in the region, such as Haviland and Bernardaud, contributed to its global reputation. Today, antique and contemporary Limoges porcelain remains highly collectible and continues to symbolize French luxury and artistic refinement.
