Royal Worcester traces its origins to 1751, when John Wall and William Davis established a porcelain factory that became The Royal Worcester Porcelain Co. in 1862, making it one of England’s oldest porcelain brands. Renowned artists such as Thomas Baxter, William Billingsley, and Christopher Dresser worked for the company, but after a long decline it merged with Spode in 1976. Production in Worcester ended in 2009 when the brand was acquired by Portmeirion Pottery Group, with manufacturing moved overseas.
